A fingerprint verification method and system of a mobile terminal. The method comprises: obtaining a fingerprint data set input by a finger of a user in a fingerprint collection region, the fingerprint collection region comprising N (N≥2) fingerprint collection sub-regions, and the fingerprint data set comprising fingerprint data of at least two fingerprint collection sub-regions in the fingerprint collection region in which an operation of the finger of the user is performed; comparing the fingerprint data of the fingerprint collection sub-regions in the fingerprint data set, and selecting optimum fingerprint data; and performing identity verification on the user by using the optimum fingerprint data. The technical solution effectively resolves the technical problems in the prior art that only one piece of fingerprint data can be input in one operation of the user, resulting in that the user needs to input fingerprints for many times; and user experience is reduced. |
