In one embodiment, a mobile electronic apparatus is provided with the following: a position detection means for detecting the position of the apparatus; an air pressure sensor for detecting air pressure; and a controller that determines the apparatus to be in a specified state if a drop in the altitude thereof is detected on the basis of the air pressure and if the amount of change in the altitude per a prescribed time satisfies a determination condition. The controller determines whether the apparatus is located within a specified area using the position detection means, and changes the determination condition in accordance with the determination results.
