1. An image display apparatus for performing bidirectional communication with a peripheral device through a single communication line, the image display apparatus comprising:
a power-saving interface configured to selectively allow the communication line to conduct electricity based on a state of a first signal provided to the power-saving interface; and a controller configured to change the state of the first signal provided to the power-saving interface in order to perform the bidirectional communication.
