The present invention facilitates reduction in power consumption of a display device without complicating the circuit configuration thereof. This drive circuit includes: an output circuit that outputs a gate-ON voltage and a gate-OFF voltage to a plurality of gate lines provided on a display panel; first transistors each having one conductive electrode electrically coupled to a first gate line and the other conductive electrode electrically coupled to a second gate line which is disposed in the scanning direction with respect to the first gate line; and a first control line electrically coupled to control electrodes of the first transistors. While the output circuit is outputting the gate-ON voltage to the first gate line, the first transistors are turned on so as to electrically couple the first gate line to the second gate line.
