A lid 6 with an external screw thread is suitable to close a cup 3 with a screw thread on its internal surface adjacent its rim. Alternative fasteners to screw threads could be used. The lid can have a vent in its upper wall selectively closable by a movable element such as a lever, a plug or a cap. A vent could alternatively be opened by a ring pull or breaking foil. The closure may be entirely covered by removable or breakable foil adhered to the rim of the cub above the closure. The screw threads may each be a broken helix. The closure can include a handle and a resilient seal. A stem 5 to support the cup could collapse into a sleeve 10 within the cups interior. An alternative cup has a sleeve extending inwards; a stem collapsible into the sleeve or extendable out from it; an elongate groove in the sleeve joined to transverse side grooves; and projections from the stem engaging with the grooves to secure the stem in extended and collapsed positions. |
