摘要 An aluminium alloy comprising (by weight): 8.5-11 % silicon, >0.15-0.6 % iron, >0.6-0.8 % manganese, up to 0.25 % zinc, up to 0.1 % magnesium, up to 0.05 % strontium, up to 0.01 % molybdenum and up to 0.25 % other alloying/refining elements, with the balance being aluminium and impurities is made from a blend consisting of 10-50 % by weight secondary aluminium, primary aluminium and optionally one or more additional refining and/or alloying elements. The Fe:Mn ratio preferably lies in the range 1:5 to 4:5. As-cast the alloy has a yield strength of 120 MPa or more, a tensile strength of 250 MPa or more and an elongation of 7 % or more. After annealing the alloy can have a yield strength of 90 MPa or more, a tensile strength of 175 MPa or more and an elongation of 10 % or more. The alloy can be used to cast structural vehicle components such as front shock towers, engine mount brackets, chassis components or suspension components.
