PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device which reduces output of annoying alarms to a driver.SOLUTION: A vehicle periphery monitoring device 10 comprises: a target object position recognition unit 13 which recognizes positions of target objects located in the periphery of a vehicle 1 by cameras 21 and 22; an alarm control unit 17 which outputs an alarm when a prediction time until a target object comes into contact with the vehicle 1 predicted on the basis of the position of the target object and the traveling speed of the vehicle 1 becomes a prescribed allowance time or less; a traveling environment determination unit 15 which determines the brightness of the outside of the vehicle 1; and an allowance time setting unit 16 which sets an allowance time Ts to T1 when the brightness determined by the traveling environment determination unit 15 is within a first range and sets the allowance time Ts to T2 which is longer than T1 when the brightness is within a second range which is darker than the first range. |
