A car park management system comprises a management server 120, a vehicle sensor 125 for detecting a vehicle in a parking bay and transmitting a detection result to the management server, a configuration server 130 and a mobile device 135. The mobile device transmits an identification of the vehicle sensor to the configuration server. In response, the configuration server transmits a configuration to the identified vehicle sensor. The configuration includes communications data for communication with the management server. The mobile device can also transmit position data for the vehicle sensor to the management server. The vehicle sensor can also transmit its identification to the configuration server. The configuration server may only transmit the configuration if the identification from the sensor is received within a time window or period started from when the identification is received from the mobile device. The mobile device may optically scan the identification from the sensor, such as using a bar code and scanner. Otherwise NFC or RFID tags can be used on the sensors and read by the mobile device. The invention allows the simple configuration of vehicle sensors at installation. |
