A television having a kid mode and a control method therefor. The television comprises a television body (10). The television body (10) comprises a frame body (110) and a display screen (130). The frame body (110) is provided with a kid mode switching button (210). A distance sensor (510) used for detecting a distance between a kid and the television body (10) is disposed on a front side of the frame body (110). A processing module (330), used for turning off the display screen (130) when the distance between the kid and the television body (10) detected by the distance sensor (510) is less than 2 meters, is disposed in the frame body (110). In the television having a kid mode and a control method therefor, a distance sensor (510) of the television body (10) detects a distance between a kid and a display screen (130); when a distance between the kid and the display screen (130) detected by the distance sensor (510) is less than 2 meters, a processing module (330) turns off the display screen; accordingly, even though a kid watches television without supervision of a parent, the eyesight of the kid is prevented from being damaged due to an excessively short distance between the kid and the television, thereby doing good to health of the kid. |
