A thermostat comprising a bimetal (19) having a central hole (19−1) being fitted with the central protrusion (16−2) of a basic body section (16) thus positioning the bimetal back and forth and left and right. Furthermore, vertical displacement range of the central part is regulated by the central protrusion (21−1) of a protective cover (21). At the time of normal temperature, warping direction is set in the direction not touching terminals (17, 18) (contacts 17−1, 18−1) and the longitudinal end parts (19−2, 19−2) abut against the rear surface of the protective cover (21). When the ambient temperature reaches or exceeds a specified level, warp is inverted to touch the terminals (17, 18) thus short−circuiting both terminals. A temperature sensitive normal open switch having a stabilized thermal response and an inexpensive arrangement and actuating other power supply interrupter surely at the time of abnormality is provided.
