A drill string includes tool assembly, wherein the tool assembly includes a tool joint adapter and a tool joint coupled to the tool joint adapter through a faceted pin. The faceted pin includes a faceted fitting having a fitting face. The drill string includes a locking pin which extends through the tool joint adapter and tool joint, wherein the locking pin extends through a locking pin groove of the fitting face. The locking pin locks the tool joint adapter and tool joint together.
