A cold storage container has an open-topped container, e.g. a drawer 4, in association with a lid 18, and cooling means 28 either in the container or in the lid. The container is able to move in a horizontal direction between a closed position and an open position, and the lid has a sealing surface 20 which cooperates with a sealing surface 10 on the container. The sealing surface on the container is arranged on an exterior container wall, and at least a portion of the wall is above the sealing surface. The cooling means may be an evaporator associated with a fan, and at least one sealing surface may include a gasket/seal, and which may be magnetic to attract the seal to the sealing surface when the container is closed. The arrangement permits the open-topped container to move between an open and a closed position and establish a seal with the lid at an inclined sealing surface thereby reducing seal wear due to minimal seal sliding as seal and seal counterface cooperate. |
