A scale transformation adjusting unit 42 performs scale transformation according to a change in the image range with respect to a real image using scale transformation based on optical zooming by an imaging unit that generates the real image, thereby generating a coordinate transformation matrix including the scale transformation. An image synthesizing unit 46 performs coordinate transformation on a virtual image using the coordinate transformation matrix generated by the coordinate transformation matrix generating unit 41, and performs coordinate transformation on the real image using the coordinate transformation matrix generated by the scale transformation adjusting unit 42, thereby synthesizing the virtual image and the real image each having undergone the coordinate transformation. An imaging control unit 43 outputs, to the imaging unit, a control signal according to the scale transformation based on the optical zooming, so as to generate the real image having undergone the scale transformation based on the optical zooming. Thus, the real image in a synthesized image of the real image and the virtual image can maintain a good resolution.
