Provided is a wireless communication device constituting part of a wireless mesh network along with a data collection device for performing multihop communication with a plurality of wireless communication devices and collecting data, the wireless communication device transmitting data to the data collection device directly or via an other wireless communication device, wherein the wireless communication device is provided with a PHY unit 101 for measuring the communication quality of a communication path to other wireless communication devices or to the data collection device, a storage unit 105 for storing the measurement result pertaining to communication quality, and a communication processing unit 104 for generating a notification requesting the installation of a wireless communication device on the basis of the measurement result and transmitting the notification to the data collection device.
