PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of realizing energy saving without spoiling the beauty of the air conditioner.SOLUTION: An air conditioner comprises: an air inlet 4a provided on a front surface of a casing of an indoor unit 1; a diffuser 5 provided in a lower portion of the casing; a ventilation passage 6 coupling the air inlet 4a with the diffuser 5 within the casing; a ventilation fan 7 arranged in the ventilation passage 6; and a movable panel 21 movable between a first position at which the movable panel 21 closes the air inlet 4a and a second position at which the movable panel 21 extends from an upper end of the diffuser 5 and extends an upper wall of the ventilation passage 6. The movable panel 21 is arranged at the second position when the air conditioner is driven. It is thereby possible to decelerate air circulating along the movable panel 21 to convert kinetic energy into a hydrostatic pressure, to decrease a hydrostatic pressure increase by the ventilation fan 7, and to realize energy saving. |
