A rotating component (10) for a turbomachine including a body (12) having an outer surface (14), at least one groove (16,116) formed in the outer surface (14), and a strip of material (18, 118) at least partially inserted into and overlying the groove (16,116). The strip of material (18, 118) is thermally bonded to the body (12) overlying the groove (16,116) to form a passageway (20,120). The strip of material (18, 118) having a finished outer surface (24) opposite the groove (16,116) is substantially coincident with the corresponding outer surface (14) of the body (12) prior to formation of the groove (16,116). A corresponding method of providing cooling of a rotating component is also provided. |
