PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing high carbon steel wire material capable of achieving reduction of spheroidizing time during manufacturing from points of view of cost and environmental load.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a high carbon steel wire material including a hot processing process of heating a steel material containing C: 0.95 to 1.10% (mass%), Si: 0.15 to 0.70%, Mn: 1.15% or less (excluding 0%), Cr: 0.90 to 1.60%, P: 0.050% or less (excluding 0%), S: 0.050% or less (excluding 0%), Al: 0.100% or less (excluding 0%), Ti: 0.015% or less (excluding 0%), N: 0.025% or less (excluding 0%) and O: 0.0025% or less (excluding 0%) in a temperature range of 550°C or more and Acpoint or less and hot processing in the temperature range and a cooling process for cooling to at least 500°C at an average cooling speed of 0.1°C/s or more after the hot processing. |
