1278487 Bearings GUJ JAEGER GmbH 24 June 1969 [26 June 1968] 31819/69 Heading F2A A roller bearing for mounting the journal 1 of a roller barrel 2 comprises inner and outer race-rings 3, 8, 9 and multiple rows of rollers 4-7 therebetween, there being a notional clearance between the inner race 3 and the adjacent surface of the successive rows of rollers which decreases in the axial direction of the bearing away from the roller barrel 2, thereby giving substantial uniformity of load at each row of rollers during operation. This is arranged either by making the rollers 4-7 increase successively in diameter from row to row, or by making the race surface 3<SP>1</SP> increase in diameter in the axial direction away from the roller barrel. The rollers may be hollow, and may be provided with a slightly convex outer surface. |
