The invention relates to a vehicle simulator for a rail vehicle, comprising an operating console with an operating element; a control device which is designed to control a function of the rail vehicle on the basis of a position of the operating element; a display device for simulating a route; and a simulation control which is connected with the operating console and the control device. With this approach, the simulation control is configured to simulate the execution of the function of the control device by the rail vehicle.
