The invention relates to a prosthesis component (10) which comprises a substrate (11) of a polymer material and a cover (12), and is characterised in that said cover (12) comprises titanium. The method for producing a prosthesis component (10) comprises the steps of forming a polymer substrate (11), and spraying a titanium-containing cover (12) on said polymer substrate (11) by means of physical vapour deposition. The invention allows a prosthesis component to be produced with improved fixation, based on the formation of a bioactive layer for improving the degree of osseointegration and, therefore, the fixation thereof to the bone.
