[Classes 75 (i) and 75 (iv)] In a street or like gas lamp, in order to ensure effective evacuation of the combustion products from the interior of the lamp, the products are discharged through an opening 4 in one side of a Venturi throat formed by two oppositely disposed diverging outlet passages 6. In the lamp shown, twelve burners are mounted in line on a manifold C arranged at the bottom of a cowl 2 which discharges at its upper end through the opening 4. The Venturi passage is formed by a two-piece casting with upper and lower diverging walls 9, 10, the two parts being held together by frames 11 with cross-bars 12. At the sides of the opening 4 at the top of the cowl, spaces 14 are left for the discharge of products not passing into the cowl 2. The burner manifold has sloping streamlined sides 16 ; at its end opposite the gas nozzle 25, is a tubular part 19 opening into an air chamber 20, supplied with air through a passage 21 and air opening 23 in the partition 24. The mixing-tube 29 is adjustable by a screw 30. The partition 24 separates off an end chamber 31 housing the gas supply D with its moisture trap 28<1>, the control mechanism E, the screw 30 and the control for the nozzle 25. This chamber has louvred air inlets 32 with a baffle 33. Reflectors F, G, H are arranged as described in Specification 446,328. |
