A zirconium-free neutral glass is provided that finds use in the pharmaceutical sector. The glass has a combination of alkali metal oxides of sodium, potassium and optionally lithium, and a controlled amount of aluminium oxide, which provides a zirconium-free and low-boron neutral glass having good hydrolytic stability, good acid and alkali stability and good devitrification properties. The glass includes the following components in % by weight:;SiO2 72-82,B2O3 3-8,Al2O3 5-8,Na2O2.5-5.5,K2O3.6-8.4,Li2O 0-0.7,MgO 0-0.7,CaO 0-0.4, andTiO2 0-5, whereinLi2O + Na2O + K2O6.8-14.6, andK2O/Na2O ratio0.7-3.4. |
