The goods display cabinet has goods compartment and a transparent edge placed on the chest box wall (61) within the upper area. A lighting unit is provided for the goods compartment. An illuminant (1) is arranged near the edge (6) on the outlying back side of the goods compartment. The outgoing light illuminates the goods compartment and price or goods labeled label. An independent claim is also included for a lighting unit for a goods display cabinet.
