The invention relates to gene expression regulatory sequences from soybean, specifically to the promoter of a soybean hypersensitive-induced response protein gene and fragments thereof and their use in promoting the expression of one or more heterologous nucleic acid fragments in a tissue-specific manner in plants. The invention further discloses compositions, polynucleotide constructs, transformed host cells, transgenic plants and seeds containing the recombinant construct with the promoter, and methods for preparing and using the same. |

1. A recombinant DNA construct comprising:
(a) a nucleotide sequence comprising any of the sequences set forth in SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:4, SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO:6, SEQ ID NO:7, SEQ ID NO:8, SEQ ID NO:9, or SEQ ID NO: 45; or, (b) a full-length complement of (a); or, (c) a nucleotide sequence comprising a sequence having at least 97% sequence identity, based on the Clustal V method of alignment with pairwise alignment default parameters (KTUPLE=2, GAP PENALTY=5, WINDOW=4 and DIAGONALS SAVED=4), when compared to the nucleotide sequence of (a); operably linked to at least one heterologous sequence, wherein said nucleotide sequence is a tissue-specific promoter. |
