a predetermined number of emitter/receiver elements; said emitter/receiver elements being arranged on an array formed of stacked slices, wherein: the emitter/receiver elements in each slice of the array have pseudo-random spacing; the spacing between the emitter/receiver elements in each slice of the array resulting from a first pseudo-random pattern generation and different slices of the stack of slices having different patterns for the pseudo-random spacing of their emitter/receiver elements; and the slices of the stack have individually a pseudo-random thickness resulting from a second pseudo random pattern generation.
