This molding die forms a cavity for fabricating a plate-shaped optical component, the molding die has a fixed-side die and a movable-side die for forming a cavity together with the fixed-side die, and the fixed-side die has a first-surface die for forming a first surface as a front or back face of the plate-shaped optical component, and a first peripheral-edge die in which a surface on a cavity side of the movable-side die and a surface on the cavity side of the first-surface die are connected, the first peripheral-edge die being inclined or curved so that the dimension of the cavity in a face direction substantially parallel to the first surface decreases in size progressively toward the first surface. |
