The reference line setting device is provided with: an image acquisition means for acquiring an image including character regions; a recognition means for recognizing characters from the character regions of the image by means of a predetermined recognition method; a line position information acquisition means for acquiring pieces of line position information of multiple characters among the characters recognized by the recognition means by reference to a storage means in which pieces of line position information regarding positions in the vertical direction of the characters where at least two reference lines pass through are stored with respect to each character, said reference line being a line drawn in the arrangement direction of the characters along which predetermined parts of the respective characters are aligned; and a setting means for setting the respective reference lines in the image on the basis of the multiple pieces of line position information of the respective reference lines which are acquired by the line position information acquisition means. |
