1. A Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process, the process including
feeding gaseous reactants including at least CO, H2 and CO2 into a reactor holding an iron-based catalyst, the H2 and CO being fed in a H2:CO molar ratio of at least 2:1 and the CO2 and CO being fed in a CO2:CO molar ratio of at least 0.5:1; controlling the reactor at an operating temperature in the range from about −260° C. to about 300° C.; and withdrawing a liquid product and a gaseous product including hydrocarbons, CO, H2, water and CO2 from the reactor; wherein the approach to water gas shift equilibrium in the gaseous product withdrawn from the reactor, according to Equation 5, is less than 0.9ApproachtoWGSequilibrium=P(H2)·P(CO2)P(CO)·P(H2O)0.0102exp(4730)T5 where T is the operating temperature of the reactor in kelvin and P is the partial pressure of the gases CO, CO2, H2 and water vapour in the gaseous product. |
