Provided is a fluid compressor which comprises a sliding material that is not easily worn out even in cases where an electrically neutral gas is compressed as a fluid. A fluid compressor (1) which is provided with a compression chamber (2) for compressing a fluid, and which is characterized in that: the compression chamber (2) is provided with a sliding surface (21a) and a sliding material (a piston ring (23)) that slides on the sliding surface (21a); and the sliding material is formed using a modified polytetrafluoroethylene. It is preferable that the modified polytetrafluoroethylene is obtained by substituting at least some fluorine atoms, which constitute a polytetrafluoroethylene, with at least one group that is selected from among a carboxyl group, an ether carboxyl group and an amino group. |
