The method of producing tantalum powder in which there are formed fine tantalum particles composed of secondary particles which are agglomerated by primary particles, and these primary particles have an average size of 10 to 30 nm, by bringing into contact at least one reducing agent with at least one tantalum compound, while the reducing agent and the tantalum compound are in the gaseous or liquid state. Reduction of the surface roughness and/or increase in the neck thickness of the fine tantalum particles is performed by subjecting the aforementioned fine tantalum particles to electrolytic and galvanic metallization treatment. Other objects of the invention are a tantalum powder produced by the above-stated method and an electrolytic capacitor anode having a capacitance of 450,000 to 800,000 mi FV/g, produced from the tantalum powder prepared as described above. |
