A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided. When a pre-set input with respect to an object is received, the mobile terminal selects the object, and searches and displays at least one application associated with the selected object, and when an input with respect to a specific application, among the at least one application, is received, the mobile terminal converts the selected object into an applicable form corresponding to the specific application and displays the converted object.

1. A mobile terminal comprising:
a touch screen to display at least one object; and a controller configured to generate an input for an application based on selection of the at least one object on the touch screen, wherein
a prescribed input to select one of the at least one object is detected on the touch screen,the controller determines whether at least one application is associated with the selected object,a pop-up window that includes a plurality of icons for different applications associated with the selected object is displayed on the touch screen, andwhen an icon for one of the applications is selected, the selected object is converted into a format corresponding to the selected application,wherein the pop-up window including the plurality of icons for the applications associated with the selected object is displayed adjacent to the selected object on the touch screen in response to a user input.
