[Class 38 (v)] [Also in Groups XI and V] In an electrically heated vulcanizer as claimed in the parent Specification, two metal plates 16, 17 are secured by a hollow rivet 15 which engages a clamping screw 13. The plate 17 carries an insulated terminal 18 extending through an asbestos disc 19 to a resistance heater 22 resting on another asbestos disc 21. The other end of the resistance heater is connected to an arcuate finger 23 extending over a recess 21a cut in the circumference of the disc 21. The plate 16 is provided with a spring contact finger 24. The co-operating part of the vulcanizer comprises a metal disc 25 carrying a patch 26, and provided with lugs 27 which may be bent over the disc 17 to secure the parts together. The disc 25 carries a pin 28 of fusible metal which normally holds a spring 30 in such a position that the finger 24 is pressed into engagement with the finger 23 to complete the circuit. At a predetermined temperature the pin 28 melts, the spring 30 is released, and the contacts 23, 24 separate.</p> |
