An airfoil (21) includes a pressure surface (52) and a suction surface (54) extending from a root section (48) of the airfoil (21) to a tip section (42) of the airfoil (21). The airfoil (21) also includes a leading edge (44) and a trailing edge (46) defining a chord length (L) of the airfoil (21) therebetween. The airfoil (21) further includes a tip shelf (38) formed along the tip section (42) of the airfoil (21) between the pressure surface (52) and a tip shelf wall (56). The tip shelf wall (56) is spaced between the pressure surface (52) and the suction surface (54) and the tip shelf (38) extends from within 10% of the chord length (L) measured from the leading edge (44) to within 10% of the chord length (L) measured from the trailing edge (46).
