Provided is a reflector that enables uniform irradiation over a wide range of a wall surface, even including ceiling edges as well as a floor. The reflector includes a reflective surface (51f) directed toward a wall surface, the reflective surface (51f) being formed in the shape of a surface of revolution obtained by semi-revolving a straight line or curved line having a predetermined shape about the central axis C0 thereof as the axis of rotation, and the reflective surface (51f) being disposed on the side remote from the wall surface with reference to a reference plane S that includes the central axis C0 and that is parallel to the wall surface, whereby the reflective surface (51f) reflects light from a planar light source (40) toward the wall surface side. The reflective surface (51f) directed toward the wall surface has a first reflective surface F1 in a lower end region thereof, the first reflective surface F1 having a sectional shape constituting a portion of an ellipse when cut by a plane that includes the central axis C0 and that is perpendicular to the reference plane S. |
