The present system (1) comprises at least one base station (2) and devices (4, 5, 6, 7) that can be connected to the base station by radio, such as materials dispensers, metering units and/or surroundings monitoring devices. Each device (4, 5, 6, 7) has at least one sensor (4b, 4d, 5b, 6b, 6d, 7b). Each device (4, 5, 6, 7) stores a device data structure (11) that comprises a device identity code (GID) and optionally a device type (GT), and also a list (SL) of all the sensors of the device. The list contains a sensor identity code (SID) for each sensor, and also a sensor type (ST) and optionally a description of at least one property (SP) of the values (SW) that the sensor can deliver. When registering with a base station (2), each device (4, 5, 6, 7) sends its device data structure (11) to the base station (2). The base station (2) keeps the device data structures (11) of the devices (4, 5, 6, 7) connected to it in a database (22). |
