The purposes of the present invention are: to improve storage medium access performance; to extend service life; and to inhibit delay in responses to write requests, and the occurrence of write errors. This storage control device is provided with: a relocation start unit for starting data relocation processing in which fragmented data, which is determined as being data corresponding to a logical address region in a logical address space used when a host computer accesses a storage medium, said data being fragmented and stored in a plurality of physical address regions in a used physical address space in the storage medium, is relocated so as to be written in a continuous physical address region in the storage medium; and a relocation control unit which, when a write request is received from the host computer during the data relocation processing, evaluates whether the data relocation processing is improving storage medium access performance, instructs that the data relocation processing continue in cases when the access performance is being improved, and instructs that the data relocation processing be paused or aborted in cases when the access performance is not being improved. |
