The invention relates to a method for monitoring and/or diagnosing an autoregulation mechanism of the blood pressure of a living being using an ECG signal, which method comprises: recording the ECG signal of the living being, recording a pulse wave curve synchronously with the recording of the ECG signal, determining heart rate intervals from the ECG signal, determining a pulse wave transit time for each heart rate interval from the pulse wave curve, determining a plurality of significant changes of the pulse wave transit times according to a predefined criterion, selecting as an anchor point a heart rate interval correlated temporally with each significant change of the pulse wave transit times, selecting a specific limited number of chronologically successive heart rate intervals at times before and/or after each anchor point, in order thereby to generate a limited sequence of heart rate intervals at each anchor point, and averaging the corresponding heart rate intervals of each sequence of a respective anchor point across all the sequences of the anchor points. The invention likewise makes available devices and systems for carrying out the method. |
