The hub has an upstream end region, a central region, and a downstream end region, and the hub includes a magnetic material. Blades that are disposed on the downstream end region of the hub extend downstream of the hub.

1. A blood pump assembly, comprising:
an implantable blood pump; a power lead connected to the blood pump and enclosing at least four conductors, the power lead including a mating region that includes three connectors arranged in a triangular pattern and a fourth connector located at a center of the triangular pattern, each of the conductors terminating at one of the connectors; and a power connector including a mating region for connecting with the power lead mating region along an axis, the power connector mating region including four connectors each arranged to receive one of the power lead connectors, wherein the blood pump is configured to be powered by the power lead when the power lead and the power connector are connected in any one of three different rotational positions about the axis relative to one another.
