PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for manufacturing an electric storage device, by which a drying time for slurry to be an active substance layer can be reduced as well as adhesiveness of the active substance layer can be improved.SOLUTION: In an application and drying device 35 for a secondary battery 10, slurry S1, S2 to be an active substance layer 32 is dried by heating means (first heating means) 382 that heats a second surface 31b of a metal foil 31 via a roller 381, in such a way that drying proceeds not from a surface side of the slurry but from the metal foil 31 side. Thereby, a binder included in the slurry S1, S2 is unevenly present and precipitates on the metal foil 31 side, which gives high adhesiveness of the active substance layer 32 to the metal foil 31, substantially prevents skinning and can reduce a drying time. Further, in an initial stage of drying, the slurry on the metal foil 31 side is preferentially and locally dried, and then the slurry S1, S2 can be wholly dried. |
