PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost and high reliability alkali metal cell.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the alkali metal cell includes: the step of forming a first opening 11 and a second opening 12 through a body substrate 10; the step of joining a first transparent substrate 20 to one surface of the body substrate 10; the step of disposing an alkali metal generation material 70 in the second opening 12; a first joining step of temporarily joining a second transparent substrate 50 to the other surface of the body substrate 10 by means of a connection metal layer 40; the step of generating an alkali metal gas from the alkali metal generation material 70 and diffusing the alkali metal gas to the first opening 11 via a cavity region 44 formed in the connection metal layer 40 to spatially connect the first opening 11 and the second opening 12; and a second joining step of permanently joining the second transparent substrate 50 to the other surface of the body substrate 10 by means of the connection metal layer 40. The second joining employs a higher pressure than the first joining. |
