521,843. Castors. BASSICK, CO. Nov. 25, 1938, No. 34378. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1937. [Class 52 (i)] [Also in Group VII] A slide 10, Fig. 4, or castor is attached to a hollow furniture leg 24 by means of a resilient block 20 which is passed through the apertured plate 25 closing the end of the leg and then expanded laterally by axial pressure. The block and the aperture are non-circular and the compression means consists of a screw 18 firmly attached to the slide so as to be turned thereby and a nut 23 in frictional engagement with the top of the block. A plate 19 between the slide and the end of the leg and a non- circular plate 22 in the aperture of the' plate 25 provide metal bearing surfaces to allow easy turning movement of the slide. In the arrangement shown, the slide consists of a body of rubber &c. with a metal shoe 13 sprung over the bottom. A modification is described adapted for fixing the slide to the curved surface of a horizontally disposed cylindrical tubular leg. |
