A nanoscale stepper motor comprises two arrays 40 & 41 of corresponding types of optically switchable molecular actuators that are used to drive progressive motion between bodies 10 & 20 of the motor. Different wavelengths of light are used selectively to drive different arrays to provide stepwise progressive linear motion. |
