PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified coal production method using low-grade coal as raw material, allowing for improvement in discharging property of the low-grade coal without causing spontaneous combustion when the low-grade coal is stored in a silo, and excellent in production cost.SOLUTION: There is provided the modified coal production method using low-grade coal as a raw material and including a step of grinding the coal, a step of storing the ground coal in a silo, a step of mixing the stored coal and oil, a step of separating an oil component from a dehydrated slurry obtained by removing a water component from a mixed coal to obtain a cake and a step of drying the cake by using an inert gas, a part of the discharging gas in the drying step is supplied to the silo. It is preferable that in the step of storing the ground coal, the nitrogen content of the discharging gas supplied to the silo is 90 mass% or more and the oil content is 5 mass% or less. It is preferable that a temperature of the discharging gas supplied to the silo in the step of storing the ground coal is controlled to 35°C to 100°C. |
