An adjustable bed comprising a frame, an adjustable mattress support platform with a plurality of articulated support sections 12, 16 and 18 pivotally mounted with respect to each other and actuator means 60 for reconfiguring the bed between a flat configuration and a raised configuration for supporting an occupant in a zero gravity position wherein the device doesnt need any surrounding clearance to allow the configuration to occur. The device may employ a linear actuator 60 and utilise cam means in the form of a roller or bearing mounted in a guide track 38. The guide track 38 may have a curved part and a linear part and a head portion may be supported by a fulcrum 48 with a roller 46. The frame may have a curved portion 30 with an inflexion point which dips down. The device is designed to be a simpler construction than conventional adjustable beds. |
