PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a metal oxide powder which can produce a nano-order metal oxide powder with high productivity, and a metal oxide powder.SOLUTION: In a method for producing a metal oxide powder: a metal powder, a carboxylic acid solution, and a free carbon dioxide source are mixed to dissolve the metal powder in the carboxylic acid solution, thereby preparing a precursor solution; the precursor solution is dried and carbonic acid components are removed to obtain a dried material; and the dried material is subjected to heat treatment to remove organic components in the dried material, thereby preparing a metal oxide powder. The dissolution reactivity of metal by a carboxylic acid and the binding reactivity of metal to carbonic acid are increased by making free carbon dioxide exist in the carboxylic acid solution in comparison with the case where free carbon dioxide does not exist, whereby a carbonic acid-metal complex can be stably formed and the production time can be shortened. Consequently, this method can produce a nano-order metal oxide powder with high productivity without using a raw material whose production process is complicated or special equipment. |
