A sealing element 2 is provided on a ring 10. The ring on which the sealing element is provided may be a grab ring. Reconfigurable portions of the ring, such as teeth 11, depend or extend from the sealing element and extend radially inwardly. The portion may also be angled axially inwardly. The reconfigurable or adjustable portions are arranged to be reoriented by insertion of a pipe, such that reorientation of the reconfigurable portions bring the sealing element into engagement with the outer surface of the pipe. The sealing ring may be incorporated into a pipe coupling or joint. The sealing element may deform once the pipe is introduced in order to form a seal between the pipe and the ring or a pipe coupling. The sealing element may be a frusto-conical sealing ring. |
