Aug. 17, 1936, No. 22611 [Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] A tool-carrying bar 32, which may be adapted to carry a grinding wheel 44 at its end, is provided with an inertia element 3 for absorbing or braking transverse vibrations, which is held between fibre washers 36, 42 in a cavity in the end of the bar 32, a rubber ring tending to maintain the inertia element in axial alignment with the tool-carrying bar. A spring-pressed plunger 38 maintains the element in frictional contact with the interposed fibre washers. Other modifications of the inertia element and its method of attachment to the tool-carrying bar are described. |
