PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic signal control system capable of controlling signal light devices on the downstream side at appropriate timing corresponding to the traffic volume of vehicles, and securing smooth flow of vehicles.SOLUTION: A signal controller 22 which comprises: a control section 23 which generates a step signal for switching an operation of each signal light device installed at an intersection; and a signal control circuit 24 which switches the operation of the signal light device based on the step signal generated by the control section 23 is installed at a plurality of intersections, a vehicle detector 13 which detects vehicles heading to the intersection and sends a vehicle detection signal to the signal controller 22 is installed on the upstream side of the intersection, the signal control circuit 24 determines the traffic volume of vehicles based on a vehicle detection signal by the vehicle detector 13, and switches a system point of the signal light device, which is sent to the signal controllers 22 installed to intersections on the downstream side of the intersection, corresponding to the traffic volume. |
