The present invention relates to a coupling configuration for a shaft of a surgical dissection tool, the coupling configuration comprising: a plurality of non-circular driving surfaces defined on the shaft, the driving surfaces having a drive area with a first end and an opposite second end; a retaining surface defined between the first end and the second end; and an internal alignment bore extending into an end of the shaft to mate with a tool driver.
