发明名称 Process for facilitating the loading of synthetic superpolyamide threads and other materials
摘要 543,291. Artificial silk, films etc.; treating textiles with liquids dyeing processes; resinous condensation &c. products sizes. SOC. RHODIACETA. March 14, 1940, No. 4803. Convention date, March 25. 1939. [Classes 2 (ii), 2 (iii) and 15 (ii)] [Also in Group V] Filaments, threads, fabrics, and other articles formed of synthetic linear condensation polyamides are subjected to treatment with a swelling agent and to a loading treatment with metallic compounds: Salts of heavy metals, e.g., stannic chloride, may be used as loading agents. These may be converted to insoluble compounds by hydrolysis or by treatment with a fixing agent such as sodium phosphate or sodium silicate. The filaments may be passed through a solution or emulsion of a solvent or swelling agent and then into a bath of stannic chloride. The swelling treatment renders the materials more permeable by aqueous liquids and enables more of the loading agent to be absorbed. The tin salt is hydrolysed by washing with water and it is fixed by means of sodium phosphate. The materials may be again passed through a swelling bath before the treatment with phosphate. The materials may be subjected to a final treatment with sodium silicate: The swelling and loading may be carried out simultaneously, i.e., the swelling agent may be incorporated in the stannic chloride solution. The swelling agent may be phenol, m-cresol, formic acid, sulphuric acid, benzene sulphonic acid, dichlorhydrin, glycerine, or aniline. The loading with tin compounds improves the affinity of the materials for basic, acidic, or development dyes, or dyes used for cellulose acetate fibres. In an example, polyamide satin fabric is treated with stannic chloride solution containing phenol, and after washing, the fabric is treated with sodium phosphate and with sodium silicate. The fabric is dried and then dyed with Polar Red B. The loaded materials are less sensitive to the action of heat, e.g., in hot ironing treatments. Specifications 461,236, 461,237, and 504,714 are referred to. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the treatment in general of polyamide materials to increase their affinity or permeability for water. The treatment may be used in conjunction with sizing and dyeing treatments other than those employing mordants. The treatment diminishes the tendency of the materials to become electrified. In an example, a polyamide thread is dyed in a bath containing Induline N.B.S. and a small amount of formic acid. In another example, a warp of polyamide threads is sized with a solution containing gelatine, glycerine, water, and phenol. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
